FMITI HOLDS FORUM ON AMENDMENT OF OGFZA LAW

The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment on Tuesday, 17 March 2020, hosted a Stakeholders’ Forum at the International Conference Centre, Abuja for the purpose of reviewing the Establishment Act of the Oil and Gas Free Zones Authority (OGFZA) for a proposed amendment of the law, 24 years after it was enacted.


The Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo said the Ministry is seeking amendment of the extant law to achieve clarity and enhance its effectiveness.

 

The Chief Executive of OGFZA, Mr Umana Okon Umana, in a major presentation to the forum, listed 12 sections of the law that have been proposed for amndment. Umana said the planned amendment is meant to actualize the aspiration of government in setting up OGFZA.


The forum was attended by the Hon. Minister, FMITI, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo; the Hon. Minister of State, Amb. Maryam Katagum; the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Nasiru Sani Gwarzo; MD/CEO of OGFZA, Mr. Umana Okon Umana; Ag. MD NEPZA, Mr. Bitrus Dawuk; directors from sister agencies; free zone enterprises; resource persons and facilitators.
